( Air Filters News) - Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) has an important -- yet often poorly understood -- impact on our environment, health, and energy costs. To raise awareness about IAQ, and how effective air filtration can boost it, Camfil Farr -- the world leader in clean air solutions for hospitals, office buildings, pharmaceutical companies, and other organizations -- is launching its European Road Show. Featuring a unique 43-foot-long trailer filled with demonstrations and lab stations, the project will track and compare live air quality data and provide information about the harmful effects of air pollution -- which directly impacts indoor air quality.

The Camfil Farr Road Show -- which will stop in France and Belgium in September, and Italy, the United Kingdom, and Slovakia in October -- will also feature demonstrations showing how effective air filtration can vastly improve IAQ indoors, where we spend some 90 percent of our lives.

For visitors, much of what they learn will be eye-opening. Air pollution kills approximately two million people each year, according to the World Health Organization. Proper air filtration keeps that pollution from seeping into indoor spaces, resulting in significant decreases in illness, sick leave rates, and health care costs. The learning performance of school children has been shown to improve, too -- by some 15 percent, according to researchers in Scandinavia -- when air filtration is improved.

Road Show visitors will also learn that air filtration solutions can require surprisingly large amounts of energy -- but not all filters are equal. Sustainable air filters, like those made by Camfil Farr, work better and last longer than traditionally designed products, so they use less energy and require less frequent replacement and disposal. That’s a double win: lower costs and less impact on the environment. Indeed, hospitals, schools, and other users of Camfil Farr clean air solutions have found that they can cut their HVAC energy costs by up to 40 percent -- simply by switching to a more efficient, more sustainable air filter.

Within the Road Show trailer, lab stations will vividly demonstrate the importance of high IAQ -- and how to achieve it. One station will use smoke -- which contains an extremely high concentration of particles -- to visualize the vastly different results different air filtration systems can provide. Right before their eyes, visitors will dramatically see how low-cost, low-quality filters can’t match the efficiency of higher-quality products, and how their performance degrades markedly over time.

By running identical air-handling units side by side -- each using a different brand of air filter -- Camfil Farr will also show visitors how energy consumption can vary markedly depending on the filter used. These savings are significant, as 40 percent of the electricity in a building is used for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

Visitors to the Road Show will walk away with a better understanding of how indoor air quality impacts their lives -- and how improving the air improves their lives, and their future.

The world leader in air filtration systems, Camfil Farr provides clean air solutions for hospitals, hotels, office buildings, educational institutions, and pharmaceutical and biotech companies. We provide the tools to achieve sustainability, maintain high air quality, and reduce airborne infections -- all while lowering total cost of ownership.
